China Telecom to invest RMB 80 bln in CDMA network |
| China Telecom<728><CHA>, the currently largest fixed-line operator in China, is to invest RMB 80 billion to upgrade the CDMA network acquired from China Unicom<600050><762><CHU>, sources reported.
China Unicom has started transferring the CDMA business to China Telecom from Oct.1. The transfer is expected to be finished in three months. China Telecom plans to broaden the network coverage by building more CDMA base stations, beef up indoor coverage of fixed mobile convergence services and to increase handset wireless internet speed in the following few years. China Telecom is reportedly to pay RMB 110 billion for China Unicom's CDMA business. |
